After the election, I woke up and didn't want to work. But then I remembered WHY I started Mamalode. It was so that people wouldn't feel alone. Or divided. Or scared. It was so that different people with different beliefs and lives could tell their stories, and we could find what is universal.
Moms, dads and people raising children have the biggest leadership role of all– what we teach in our homes and hearts changes the world in an immediate and lasting way that transcends all politics, borders and languages.
Love. Decency. Kindness. Respect. How to handle fear. How to handle sharing. How to handle compromise. Manners. Grace. These skills are taught in tiny ways, to tiny people, and cumulatively are world changing.
We all want our children to be safe– and beyond that we strive for goodness. We all fear, often the same fears. We all hope, often the same hopes.
My oldest son will vote in the next election. This changes how I parent him, the expectations, the conversations and the weight of my job as a parent.
My expectations, the conversations and weight of my job as a publisher, that is also world changing. So after the election, I go to work. I collect, shine and share your stories, each and every one of you. You are my WHY.
