My daughter is a true BAM! She is a single mom who is raising her incredible daughter, Skye, while working at restaurants and getting her degree in journalism at UM in Missoula, MT. When we found out she was pregnant, before her 21st birthday, I was pretty devastated. My beautiful, talented daughter's life would be changed forever! What about her hopes, her dreams and goals? She was the strong one; she was the one who knew she could do this from day one, even when I feared for her future. Her bad-assedness began when she got through a labor and delivery that was much harder than mine had been with no drugs and with barely a curse word (I was there; I may have sworn a few times.) Once she was home with Skye, she was a natural mom from the beginning. At her age, I could barely get myself to college classes, let alone take care of a baby. Yet here she was, my very young daughter being an amazing mom. She dealt with all of the usual baby issues – lack of sleep, little illnesses, teething, day-care – with not a lot of help from anyone, and she rocked it. As Skye has gone from an adorable baby to an equally adorable but very “strong-minded” toddler, Morgan has blossomed as a BAM. She plays constantly with her daughter, is incredibly consistent with her rules and discipline, and shows Skye unconditional love over and over every day. I know Morgan feels that Skye is her world, and since my kids are my world as well, I can relate. To hear my own “baby girl” giggling uncontrollably with her baby girl is the greatest gift I've ever been given. Thank you, Mamalode, for giving us the chance to tell the world about the BAM's in our lives, and thank you, Morgan, for being the most BAM I've ever seen to my precious granddaughter!
