What moms should know
Nothing specific
But what moms should know
Is that sometimes
I’ll only pretend to be OK.
On the days when my hair seems dull
When coffee from a flimsy container
Attacks my favorite shirt
In my haste to get to class,
And even then,
I’ll rush in, three minutes late,
And spend lunch in detention.
What moms should know
I won’t always listen.
I won’t always want to.
What moms should know
I’ll care. I’ll cry.
I’ll tell you my world collapsed
When he breaks my heart
When you ground me from the phone
When I tell you I hate you…
What moms should know
I’ll laugh. I’ll smile.
I’ll know I’m still learning
And I’ll love you,
I’ll always love you.
That’s
What moms should know.
