I Am One Mother, Reaching for the Sun

I Am One Mother, Reaching for the Sun

I am one mother, reaching for the sun.

I am one mother, working late into the night, trying to make her dreams come true so that her children know they can, too.

I am one mother, showing my kids what passion is and what hard work looks like.

I am one mother, writing and reading and writing and reading.

I am one mother, reaching for the sun.

I am one mother, guiding my children through life.

I am one mother of one son and I’m doing my best to teach him he’s brave, even if he cries (and because he cries), and that being kind is more important than anything.

I am one mother of one daughter and I want her to know that while she may be tiny, she is strong—in all ways—and on days when she doesn’t feel so strong, there will be other women to lift her up.

I am one mother, showing my children what love is and how it will follow them, always.

I am one mother, guiding my children through life.

I am one mother, who does her best to keep her feet planted firmly on the ground.

I am one mother, stuck in daydreams but doing the ordinary: making breakfast, doing laundry, cleaning the house.

I am one mother, listening, loving, playing, and nurturing.

I am one mother, saying I’m sorry and trying, trying, trying harder every day to do better.

I am one mother, who does her best to keep her feet planted firmly on the ground.

I am one mother, learning to let it be.

I am one mother, surrounding myself with people who love me and saying goodbye to those who don’t.

I am one mother, keeping my people close.

I am one mother, bowing my head in prayer and keeping my hands open.

I am one mother, learning to let it be.

I am one mother, reaching for the sun.

I am one mother, seeing the extraordinary in the ordinary, the beauty in the mundane.

I am one mother, in a community of many mothers, here on the page.

I am one mother, in a tribe of mothers, made stronger by one another.

We are many mothers, stretching at dawn and dusk, reaching for the sun, and….

I am one mother, reaching for the sun.
