It was a busy morning. My three year old had thrown on a sundress and a sweater, and paired it with stylish sneakers. I also was wearing sneakers, but they were paired with the same yoga pants I wore the day before and to bed the previous night. A collegiate hoodie and a messy ponytail completed a look that said “I’m a mom. I may look like hell but my kindergartner got to school on time”. My daughter’s messy bun actually added to her look, and I heard multiple “So cute!” whispers from the other Target patrons. Proud of my girl, but embarrassed by my appearance, I said to her on the way out, “You look so pretty, and I look so sloppy today”. She took my hand, looked me in the eye and said, “We both look beautiful”. She was right. I really can pull off a hoodie.
