The Mamalode Starter Series is an exciting opportunity for us to introduce you to some of the amazing people we get to meet. Starting something takes enormous amounts of work, faith, help and community. Every week we'll share another story of starting. So, community of Mamalode, read up, get inspired and check out these wonder-folk.

Tell us a little bit about your business and how you started it.
Kids in the House is the world’s largest parenting video library site, with 8,000 videos from 450 top experts from all over the country, as well as parents who have dealt with specific issues and have their hard-earned wisdom to share. The videos cover everything from pregnancy to getting into college. We built our own state-of-the-art TV production studio and filmed for three years before launching the site in June of 2013.

As a mom I wanted to read all of the parenting books and to be a great parent, but I was too tired after a full day of being a mom to three kids. I realized that only some people have access to parenting seminars and small group discussions, and even those of us who do have a hard time finding the right expert. I had a vision of creating short videos that would cover every parenting topic in order to help parents quickly get the exact information they needed, whenever they needed it.

What do your kids think about your job?
I try to share my struggles, victories and everything else it takes to achieve your goals with my children. It’s never easy to have your own business, but it provides a lot of teachable moments to share. I think my kids are very proud of me because they’ve seen the whole process. They’ve seen the triumphs and the fails, and have supported me the whole time.

Tell us about a total mom + biz fail.
I had my six-year-old son out with me at an event for my oldest daughter. It was getting late so he was getting tired. There were cookies out and I said he could have one. However, he wanted a second and when I said “no,” he lost it. He refused to leave. While he was having a tantrum, another parent came over and jokingly said, “how’s the parenting site going.” I think that’s one of the funniest “fails” of owning this business. After interviewing over 450 people, you’d think I knew it all, but it just goes to show you there is no such thing as being a perfect parent yet there are many ways to be a great one.

Share with us a total win (brag away!)
Not too long ago a mom wrote into the site to tell us her daughter was being bullied and they spent the night watching Rosalind Wiseman’s videos on She couldn’t stop expressing how grateful she was and how much the videos helped both her and her daughter. Every time someone mentions how much the videos helped him or her it touches my heart. Helping other parents, that’s the biggest “win” for me.

What's your relationship with Mamalode?
Kids in the House and Mamalode are partnering to bring the most helpful information to parents around the world. The goal is to help parents be better parents with quick, accessible information from top experts in their respected field.
